8 Things You should Know about Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty or nose job has a long history that dates back to 500 BC. It is believed that the first ever Rhinoplasty was done by a physician known by the name of Sushruta. The surgeon was from India and he, along with his students, used to reconstruct noses that had been removed as punishments for crimes committed. However, the surgical process of nose correction was not popular until 1800s when surgeons in America and Europe started doing experimental surgeries to reshape the nose to improve its look and functionality.

Jacques Joseph was the first person who used Rhinoplasty as a cosmetic surgery procedure to reshape the shape of nose. It became very popular during the First World War when the surgeons had to perform it on soldiers who got their noses wounded. Rapid technological advancements were made at that time that made the process safer.
Initially, the surgery was very costly and only the rich could afford it. Since 1950 till today, the continuous medical advancements have made the process a lot safer and less costly. Now it can be performed to reconstruct the form or restore the functions of nose.
Rhinoplasty is equally safe for both, men and women. However, the level of satisfaction that a patient would gain from the surgery depends largely upon his or her expectations. Always be realistic about results. You may find following information worth knowing before going to choose rhinoplasty.
